 In Europe, the measure from the viewpoint of administration service

research and development also including education. Education needs to

builds a dense cooperation network and furthers research and
development. In order to utilize the newest technology, such as a
researcher of processing of English which is a world common language,
multilingual processing and machine translation, and intellectual
information access, there is an object for 必s which also puts in a
European and American researcher in this cooperation network.

 The main contents of research are development of new CLINT which the
21st century will be expected. The core-subject is multilingual
processing and machine translation. Moreover, the request to the new
application system which did not carry out imagination at present,
either may come out suddenly by rapid social change. It is necessary
to also further research and development of multilingual intellectual
information access based on the highest present technology as a
subject of CLINT further so that such a situation can also be coped
with.

 Whole research and development will be carried out in the long run,
judging from the technical situation attained now. In addition to
multilingual processing and machine translation, there are Web access
as intellectual information access, electronic commerce, information
retrieval, information discovery, information navigation, information
extraction, an information summary, e-commerce, e-mail, e-phone,
etc. in a concrete subject. Moreover, there are research and
development of a human interface as a related subject for these. The
technology with which practical use is presented in these based on the
technology at each time will be started, and the system which is
helpful even if it is not perfect will be developed one by one. Scan
of Web information, multilingual reference of Web, finite transmission
and reception of a document, finite information guidance, etc. are
likely to be comparatively utilizable at an early stage.

 Construction and maintenance of various language data must also be
included in a research subject. They are a text corpus, a dictionary,
a grammar, a knowledge base, etc. Everybody needs to enable it to
share these data under world cooperation as electronic knowledge. In
order to realize world cooperation smoothly at this time, it is also
required to standardize the contents, its description style, etc. of
these data.
